Food Assistance

DCF provides several programs and resources to help meet the food needs in our communities.
The United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) SNAP program provides qualifying low-income households with food benefits and a​ccess to a healthy diet. In Kansas, the program is known as the Food Assistance program.​
SUN Bucks, also known as Summer EBT, is a program to help families buy food for their school-aged children during the summer.
Commodity programs are available to low-income Kansans to assist with their household food needs.
In addition to the state and federal food assistance programs administered by DCF, many local helping organizations distribute locally donated food through food banks, churches, or other methods.​
