The Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF) has been notified about potential scammers attempting to access personal information including name, email, and phone number by claiming to give information on qualifications and eligibility for Food Assistance (also known as SNAP).
These scammers will also share a website that is NOT affiliated with the Kansas Food Assistance program. Please remember that DCF offers detailed information about Food Assistance, including determining eligibility and assistance in applying here:
https://www.dcf.ks.gov/services/ees/Pages/Food/FoodAssistance.aspx as well as at DCF services centers around the state.
DCF has also been notified of reports about EBT cards getting skimmed or cloned. Review these tips to safeguard your balance:
- If you notice any irregularities or purchases not made by you, report it to your local DCF office, replace your card and change your PIN code. You can replace your card by calling 1-800-997-6666 or at www.ebtedge.com.
- Never share your card number or PIN code with anyone not authorized to use the card.
- DCF will never call or text you and explicitly ask for your card number or PIN code. Do NOT share your card info or PIN code over the phone or via text message.
- Freeze your EBT card when not using it. No one (not even authorized users) can use the card when it is frozen. *Ensure you un-freeze the card when you are ready to make a purchase.*
- Block out-of-state and Internet purchase permissions in the EBT cardholder portal (www.ebtedge.com) or the EBT Edge Mobile App for extra security.
