Centers for Independent Living (CILs)
The purpose of independent living is to maximize the leadership, empowerment, independence and productivity of individuals with disabilities, and to augment their integration and full inclusion into the mainstream of society. This mission is carried out through a statewide network of 8 Centers for Independent Living (CILs). CILs are not residential facilities. Instead they offer the following core services: information and referral, individual and systems advocacy, peer support, independent living skills training and services to support deinstitutionalization.
