Basic Needs

When it comes to supporting Kansans, we know everyone has different needs. We try to meet every Kansans where they are, not matter the situation, need or circumstance.

DCF supports Kansans through programs that connect them and their families with food resources, child care assistance, utility and energy assistance, family resource centers and other types of supports. When families can meet basic needs, parents and care providers are able to focus on providing a safe, nurturing environment for their family members.

Here are some key services we provide:

Access to healthy foods with the Food Assistance program, also known as SNAP
Child Care Assistance for families to help pay for child care
Keeping your home warm in the winter with the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP)
Providing cash assistance and employment services to families with low income or resources through the Successful Families Program.
